I am bored and thinking of trading my E39 540i for an E46 M3...
long story short the M3 has an "R" title and has been repainted from Grey to Phoenix Yellow.
Thoughts?

The r title is a bigger deal than the respray if I remember correctly.

Take it to a mechanic/body shop you trust and have the work done on it checked out.

Have fun paying a lot more insurance on it. Even if it was simply broken into rebuilt titles are a bitch to deal with.

No more than $10k. You can get one with factory paint and a clear title for $15k.

I'd keep the 540i. Rebuilt titles have to be really cheap to intrigue me

Rebuilt titles are radioactive. Resale drops by 30-60%. Many insurance companies classify them as uninsurable and the rest charge more.

I'm keeping the 540i. The guy is unrealistic with his numbers.

Yikes, so many things popped out at me at once.
-Aftermarket halo lights. (Always tacky)
-ugly color
-why do the seats look like that leatherette/vinyl stuff?
-"front end collision but I rebuilt it myself" yikes.
